Canada Employed explores the state of employment in Canada. Learn about the latest insights, according to a recent Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey. The topics in August covered issues like companies turning to reskilling their current workforce and job seekers feeling they have lost leverage in the job market.
The survey showed companies are reducing costs by reskilling existing employees:
- 28% of companies either plan to cut jobs or not hire at all, citing budget constraints this year.
- 67% of companies plan to offer company-led training sessions or programs either during or outside of working hours.
Concerning the reasons job seekers are looking for change, the survey indicated:
- Among job seekers, 47% commonly fear they won’t get the salary raise or increase they believe they deserve at their current workplace.
- 57% of job seekers say it will be difficult to find a job in the next six months.
